THE LAST TRAIN

I’ve been trying to recall what this film was called and just found it (26th Aug 2016) on one of my old Dovestone reports. In November 1998 I met Andy Holt from Granada Television film unit looking for a location for a proposed Sci-Fi film called the Cruel Earth. This became The Last Train when it was released in this country.

From Wikipedia: The Last Train (Cruel Earth in North America) is a British six-part post-apocalyptic television drama serial first broadcast on the ITV network in 1999. It has since been repeated on ITV2 in 1999/2001 and on numerous occasions on the UK Sci-Fi Channel. The serial was written by Matthew Graham and produced for ITV by Granada Television.

It was filmed at many and various locations but one of them was at the small quarry at the top of Chew Road (near Dishstones) and also on Chew Road. In the video below these are shown in the first five minutes or so. You can see a younger Nicola Walker (Last Tango in Halifax) in some of the film scenes.
